in NJ, swerving to avoid an animal can be considered "careless driving" good luck in court dude, but dont' waste your money on a lawyer. talk to the prosecuter and explain the story, DRESS NICE, that plays a big part on the attitude they give you, speak with extremely nice manners. and if you broke the law in his county, but then entered your's he's allowed to follow you and pull you over. even if it was in your county, he could pull you over and radio for a cop of your county to come. trying to use the "out of jurisdiction" thing never really works, so don't waste your time. just tell the truth. on the ticket it should say an intersection the "crime" happened, go back to that area, take pictures of the lines on the road, speedlimit signs and everything. get them printed out at a local pharmacy, and bring them with you. that'll help alot. it got me out of 2 speeding tickets when i wasn't speeding. i was doing 47 in a 45, and the cop wrote that it was a 35. i went with a video camera (from both directions) for 5 miles (i got pulled over in the middle) the speedlimit is 45mph. good luck man
